15 Minute Challenge

Can't believe I haven't blogged all week, I must have been busy.

Well the week kinda went like this.

Wednesday:  Paper piecing fans
Thursday: more fans
Friday: more fans
Saturday: more fans
Sunday: started working on small borders more fans
Monday: more fans
Tuesday: small borders and started working on final border.  More appliqué tonight.

It was the last footy game on Sunday, my son got injured and he has been home from school for 2 days, big hip hooray for footy being finished.  Fingers crossed he will be well enough for Saturday's tennis grand final.  We have told him he is only doing one sport next winter (well 2 with karate).

Thursday: restitched block 7, stitchery and paper piecing fans
Friday: finished stitchery
Saturday: pieced quilt top ready for borders

Here is my pile of fans I have 9 more to go plus 4 corners to compete.

And the winner is

I am still in a bit of shock, we went to the dentist today and although we new it was possible it seems the braces thing is going now going to happen.  Luckily there is still one tooth to come out so we still have 6 months to save a bit of money.

My son isn't very happy tonight so I gave him the task of doing the draw.

And the winner is Chooky Blue, who I know loves blue so I know the prize is going to a good home.  So if you are out their Chooky reading this send me a email with your snail mail address and I will pop the set in the mail by the end of the week.

15 Minute Challenge

I have been busy again this week, I am pretty sure that I didn't have a day off from sewing but I might just have to do a run down to work it out.  So here it goes.

Wednesday: stitched in my lunch break at work and worked on Dresden plate embroidery.
Thursday: Dresden plate embroidery
Friday: Sue Daley trunk show (pretty sure listing to a talk about quilting counts
Saturday: Dresden plate embroidery
Sunday: Paper Piecing Workshop - included fabric shopping and a little bit of sewing but mainly a lot of talking which always happens when I get together with the girls.
Monday:  Dresden plate embroidery
Tuesday: started putting the quilt together first 2 rows are done, but I have decided to redo the final stitchery making it shorter and higher so it will look less odd.  Have also cut a heap of Dresden spokes for the borders.  Will do some more glueing tonight.

Head on over to Kate's to see who else has met the challenge and remember that you only have a few more days to join in my giveaway.

Amazing Sue Daley Workshop and Trunk Show

Had a great weekend just gone.  It started with Sue Daley Trunk Show on Friday night.  Listing to Sue talk was really quite inspiring.  I think she has a bit of the energiser bunny about her and her boundless energy and hard work have built her a fantastic brand and she really is an amazing quilter who has thought outside the square to make an old fashion technique into a quick achievable projects.

Sunday was amazing as well and learning all the secrets of clamshells and apple cores where we all just had the light bulbs turned on all at once and it was one of those AHAH moments.  Both techniques super easy with amazing results.

I have to admit I wasn't going to buy Sue's book until the trunk show, I had flipped through it and thought I don't know if I want to make these quilts, until I saw them in the flesh they are all very beautiful even if the colours aren't my thing, I now have about 3 more favourites that are on the wish list plus a couple more of her quilts that aren't in the book which I am going to tackle.

I looked at the clam shells in Lancaster at first and I decided I wouldn't be doing that one, then I thought about it a bit more on the way home on Friday night and by the morning I had decided I was going to get the pattern and buy the fabric to make a start.  Luckily I got there early on Sunday because there was only a couple of the kits left.  And I picked Vintage Summer as my starter pack.  I have quite a few red and blue prints in the stash including a jelly roll of another range which I am planning on using.   Might have to shop for lights but if I am honest I can probably find plenty in the stash.

The hexagon in the picture was all I achieved yesterday, I had a headache yesterday and just couldn't get into sewing hexagons, should have moved on to the clams I think but I loved both projects and a few other little items that Sue had there so I think I have enough to go on with, but for now I will see a lot of dresdan fan's in my future and they are all paper pieced so I will be polishing my paper piecing skills.

Choose Your Own Bag Adventure

Here is my first entry into CurlyPops bag adventure.  This was made for my friend Silvia, it was her birthday a couple of weeks ago and we went out to celebrate last night.  I have shown this on my Facebook page but it was without the flower, which Silvia particularly liked when I showed the girls at sewing a couple of weeks ago.  Unfortunately that flower was a bit fiddly and it became 1 flower instead of the 2 that are on the original pattern.  I think the whole bag involved less swearing than that one flower.  If you want to join in the bag making action head over the CurlyPops here and sign up.  Hopefully I will get to do another one before the month is out.

15 Minute Challenge

Lots more sewing this week.  All my paper piecing for the alternate blocks are done and I am working on more embroidery.

I am seriously considering re-doing one of the main blocks again.  The centre block just needs another border.  I am aiming to get the embroidery all done this week so that I can start the borders.  Will be taking stitching to work today to do in my lunch hour because we have a birthday or 2 to celebrate tonight with the girls.  Tomorrow I will post a photo of another project I have been working on.

Can't wait for the weekend I am heading off to a Sue Daley workshop with the girls, woohoo.

I am also booked in to a workshop with Kathy Doughety in October which will be amazing.

So lets just say I romped it in this week because I did lots and lots of sewing again every day usually 2 hours each.

Head on over the Kate's to see who else met the challenge, and don't forget to leave a comment in the previous post to be in the running for my give away.

I'm Having a Giveaway

Remember this quilt.   I am so proud of this quilt, it was a lot of work but it earned its keep and sold more than was I was expecting it to.  The give away is a full set of the Blueberry Botanicals patterns,  that's a retail value of $93.

I realise that you probably won't be able to get the fabrics, but I dream about this quilt being made in reds and creams or done in one of the French General ranges would look fabulously rich.   I just don't have the time to do it right now.

Enter a comment here, better still like my Facebook page and leave a comment on the network blogs link that this blogpost appears and get 2 entries.  Make sure you spread the word and tell your friends.  Giveaway closes 17/8/2012 5pm Adelaide time.

The lovely ladies at Quilters Harvest have said that they have kits available should you win and you want to make it just like mine.
